Use Cases for Concept2 Utility

Use Cases (as is now, not as wanted to be):

Firmware update of a PM3 or PM4 monitor

I have an older monitor and I want to get new features, or have been told a problem I am having is solved by a firmware update.  I follow the directions on the Concept2 web site to download and install the Concept2 Utility.   When I run it the first time, I barely notice some progress bars.  I hook my PM3 to the Computer using the USB Cable provided by Concept2 with my rower.  After a few moments, the Concept2 Utility tells me that an update is available.  I click YES and OK to proceed with the update, wait, and it's done.

Firmware update of a PM5 monitor

I got a new rowing machine and had some problems with the USB flash drive (or insert problme here), so I was told to update.  I follow the instrucitons on the web site ... blah blah...

Transferring my LogCard data to the online logbook - No PM3/4 nearby

(use of logcard reader, installing drivers, etc.)

Putting my workout data into a Spreadsheet

"Push" firmware updates - with USB Cable

I use the Concept2 utility connected to my PM3 (or 4 or 5) with the intention to transfer some data to my online logbook.  When I plug it in and run the Concept2 Utility, I am told there is new firmware updates available.  I accept the prompt and it takes about 10 minutes to update the monitor.  Cool, all done, though I'm not sure what was changed.

"Push" firmware updates - with USB flash drive

I use the Concept2 utility with the USB Stick for my PM5 with the intention to transfer some data to my online logbook.  When I plug it in and run the Concept2 Utility, I briefly see the notice that some 'firmware' was put on the USB Flash Drive.   Later, when I use the USB flash drive in my PM5, I get a prompt stating that there is new firmware available.   I accept the prompt and it takes about 10 minutes to update the monitor.  Cool, all done, though I'm not sure what was changed.
